TIP:  Routines are your friend; find a time to write and do it every day. The more you write, the more comfortable you will be with the process.

Welcome

Grants, appeals letters, newsletters, case statements, press releases, board communication – the time will come when every nonprofit organization needs the services of a professional development writer.  Even if you’re lucky enough to have a writer on staff, the demands of a particular job and the pressures of looming deadlines often prompt many agencies to bring in an independent consultant.

That’s where I come in. I’m Mary Curran-Downey, and there is a good reason why my mission is so prominently displayed here – my job is to serve your writing needs, be they for a detailed grant request, an evocative case statement to help lay the groundwork for a capital campaign, or a one-page press release announcing the selection of your new executive director.

Before a single word is written, though, we’ll spend some time together, and I’ll listen when you tell me what is most important to you and your organization.  Then I’ll do the research, assuring that the material produced is fresh, accurate, and based on the most up-to-date information possible. Finally, I’ll synthesize all that input into clear, crisp copy, and do it on a very tight deadline.
